Why 'Every Day A January'?

People ask me all the time "Why is your blog called 'Every Day A January'?"

That's actually not entirely true.

...Actually, it's pretty much just not true at all. The closest I've gotten to that question was this conversation:

Friend: "Isn't your birthday coming up in January?"
Me: "No it's actually in December."
Friend: "Oh! Your blog is Every Day A January so I always get confused."

Yes. January is an odd thing to choose as your blog title, I guess. So here's the story:

I love January 1st. New Year's Eve and New Year's Day were always this huge deal in my family. We had to clean the entire house before New Year's Eve because only slobs greet the New Year with a dirty house (according to my mother). January 1st has always been a bright, clean, shiny new start to a whole new year.

A blank canvas just wanting for me to paint it.

(I don't actually paint. I'm just making an analogy).

I love fresh starts. I always start off really well. Eventually, in the middle, things get messy but the beauty of that is you can just break out ANOTHER fresh, new start and off you go!

I've discovered throughout my life - and the many iterations of this blog - that I need a fresh start not just every year but every day.

Every day I intend to wake up with a purpose.
Every day is a bright, shiny, fresh new start just waiting for me to begin.

And that's why my blog is Every Day A January. Because January means a new beginning and I need a new beginning every.single.day.
